Georgetown man charged with human trafficking in Peel Region probe

A 32-year-old Georgetown man is facing human trafficking- and prostitution-related offences after a vice unit investigation in Peel Region.

Peel Regional Police said on Tuesday that the vice unit began its investigation in January involving victims who were allegedly recruited and exploited into the sex trade and had their earnings taken as a result.

Viktor Semchyk is charged with human trafficking, exercising control, receiving benefits from trafficking in persons, procuring and deriving a material benefit from sexual services.

“Investigators from the specialized enforcement bureau’s vice unit believe there may be more victims of human trafficking and prostitution offences and/or witnesses to this investigation and are urging anyone with information in relation to this investigation” to contact them, Peel police said in a news release.
