A very personal habit was made public when former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie and her radio co-stars Fitzy and Wippa got chatting on Tuesday.
Ritchie had told Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli about her tendency to sunbake nude in her backyard during an earlier, off-air chat.

But she seemed a little shocked when the subject was brought up live on air.
“On a sunny day, Ms Ritchie might actually take the kit off for a bit of sunbaking,” Wippa began before Ritchie interjected, “You can’t talk about this!”
Undeterred, Wippa then went on to reveal that Ritchie didn’t just sunbake nude — she sometimes painted in the buff.
“When you told me you’d been in the backyard painting I went, ‘You didn’t do it with your clothes off, did you?’,” he said.
“(It was) a throwaway line as a joke (but as a) matter of fact, she did!
“So Kate Ritchie painted the back fence completely nude!”
Slightly mortified, Ritchie admitted she hadn’t intentionally set out to shed her clothes for the home DIY project.
“I’d done some gardening. I pulled out cactuses and things,” she explained.
“And then I thought, ‘Oh god, I’m filthy. But I want to finish the paint. I want to do the painting today.’
“So I just thought, get your gear off.
“Get all this dirt off, the soil and stuff from the old succulents.
“And then I thought, it’s just me here. It’s the holidays. I’m a grown up.
“This is my house, and I’m painting because I deserve it.”
Lest the thought of Ritchie painting her fence in the buff be too wild to imagine, she did add one caveat — she was wearing a hat.
“I had my Alf Stewart hat on,” she said, referring to the iconic Home and Away character played by Ray Meagher.
What about prying eyes and nosy neighbours, though?
“You can’t see into the yard unless you’re in the apartments up the top,” Ritchie said.
When the segment was posted on Ritchie’s Instagram, Ritchie fans said “You do you”.
“Good on you Kate, be proud and enjoy what’s right for you,” one fan said.
“I don’t understand why others find it unusual and do the stupid giggly jokes about nudity.”
“Too many prudes in the world and we should be proud of our bodies, and you were in your own safe place,” said another.
“Should be more of it I say.”
“Well, you’re a stunner!” said a third.
“I do the same.”
One fan was a bit more shocked.
“Rudy Nudy Kate Ritchie haha,” they wrote.
“Geez you’re game for doing that haha 😂😂😂😂😂.”
