Fans shocked by surprising detail in Drew Barrymore’s house

Drew Barrymore is a famous actress and talk show host, so you’d think she lives in a super-glamorous, luxurious mansion.

You know the type — totally out of the average person’s price range, looking like it should be in an Architectural Digest magazine and kept spotlessly tidy by a professional cleaner.

But when Barrymore recently shared a video to social media about how much she liked staying in and pottering about at home, fans were stunned by just how “normal” her house looked.

Rather than being the type of pristine palace where you’d be afraid to sit down on or touch anything, her New York pad looked lived in, even a bit cluttered, and not dissimilar to a regular suburban home.

The video, simply captioned “I love staying in”, has had more than 613,000 views and amassed hundreds of comments praising how real and relatable Barrymore is.

In the video, she stands in her kitchen, wearing tracksuit pants and a T-shirt as she fries an egg.

She’s also shown trying on an outfit in a regular-sized wardrobe, and sitting at a table in a cosy-looking living room.

“I love staying in, I know everyone thinks it’s boring but it’s really not,” a voiceover said.

“It’s the least boring thing.

“I’m a really happy little hermit.

“I love being at home, I never want to go anywhere.”

Fans even found it surprising that Barrymore cooked her own food.

One fan wrote: “You give off the vibes of you bought your first apartment and you are still there. So wholesome and cute.”

“Wait, you don’t have your own chef?” wondered another.

“I love how normal you are,” said a third.

“I love the fact that she lives in a regular apartment doing normal things and just living her best life,” agreed another.

One person said they loved the fact Barrymore’s place looked like a lived-in home and not just a “show piece”.

It’s not the first time the actress has given a glimpse into what her place looks like.

One video, which showed her watching one of her old films, The Wedding Singer, sparked surprised comments about how small her TV was.

In another video, in which she applies a cream meant to rejuvenate the look of her old tattoos, it can be seen that her bathroom is also pretty modest-looking, and well and truly lived in.

Last month, she shared a before-and-after of her messy bedroom, which was spacious but cluttered.

This isn’t to say, of course, that Barrymore isn’t wealthy — she is.

According to BuzzFeed, the star is worth an estimated $US125 million.

In 2013, she sold her California estate for more than $US6 million, making more than a million in profit from the sale.

The pair has two children together, Olive, 10, and Frankie, eight.

Despite a long and successful career that includes movies such as E.T, Charlie’s Angels, 50 First Dates and The Wedding Singer, it seems Barrymore isn’t fussed about flaunting her wealth.

And fans love her for it.

“Hi Drew! Aussie girl here who has loved you forever!” one fan wrote.

“Your home seems so ‘homey’.

“Thanks for being here and being you always.”

Another wrote: “I love how genuine you are. You are an amazing soul.”

Others were busy agreeing with Barrymore about how good it was to stay at home.

“Yup, yup, same with me,” one fan commented.

“I’m a happy home couch potato.”

“The older I get, the more I want to stay in,” added another.

“Same girl, same,” a third wrote.

“My pets and my books are there!”
