EGO Power+ Cordless Brushless Hedge Trimmer which can ‘activate unexpectedly’ recalled

A hedge trimmer has been recalled over a fault which could cause it to “activate unexpectedly”, causing serious injury.

Product Safety Australia issued the recall for the EGO Power+ Cordless Brushless Hedge Trimmer over an issue with its rear trigger switch.

The product was sold nationally at multiple retailers including Home Timber & Hardware and Stratco between August 2018 and March 2020.

According to PSA, the switch may fail to rebound after being pressed, causing the trimmer to start unexpectedly.

“There is a risk of serious injury including laceration if the hedge trimmer activates unexpectedly,” it said.

Consumers who own the trimmer have been told to stop using it “immediately”.

They should contact the product’s supplier, Chervon Australia, to organise a free repair of the rear trigger switch.

“Once registered, Chervon will contact consumers to direct them to the nearest repair agent to have their hedge trimmer repaired,” PSA said.

“If you cannot return the unit to a repairer or have sold or gifted it to another person you should contact Chervon.”
