Driver flees after woman, teen injured in burnout crash in NSW Hunter region

The driver of a Ford Falcon who lost control doing burnouts left their car in flames after hitting a woman and a teenage girl, police allege.

They allegedly fled the scene after the car crashed into a power pole and caught fire in the NSW Hunter region at North Arm Cove about 11.40pm on Friday.

The driver of the white Falcon had been performing burnouts in front of a crowd of people when they lost control, hitting two people, police allege.

A 20-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition with pelvic and leg injuries.

The car was seized for forensic examination after firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Police hope to speak to the driver and are appealing for any footage.
