Dr Chris Brown is known for his tall and athletic appearance.

But it seems he wasn’t always the most co-ordinated person, especially on the dancefloor.

Speaking on Triple M’s Mick and MG in the Morning on Wednesday, the 45-year-old veterinarian and Seven personality opened up on the embarrassing way he managed to break his arm.

The incident harked back to his university days, when he was trying to show off with some fancy dance moves.

He tried to do “the worm”, but things didn’t quite go according to plan.

“I thought, I’m not flexible, but if I hit this with enough pace and altitude, physics and gravity will be my friend,” he said.

As he tried to complete the wiggle-armed move, he managed to break his radius (between the elbow and wrist) and his ulna (the long bone in the forearm).

“That’s a big night out!” radio host Mick Molloy laughed.

“I X-rayed it at the vet school the next morning and was quickly whisked away to human emergency to have it checked out,” Brown added.

He ended up with his arm in a sling for six weeks — not ideal when you’re learning to be a vet.

The conversation came about because Brown had revealed he was taking dance lessons, feeling he needed to have “more rhythm”.

That might have something to do with the recent announcement that he will be joining Sonia Kruger as co-host of this year’s Dancing With the Stars.

Kruger and Brown will oversee proceedings as celebrities including former AFL players Ben Cousins and Shane Crawford, actress Lisa McCune, SAS Australia star Ant Middleton and Home and Away actor James Stewart (to name just a few) strap on their dancing shoes.

“I went and had some advance lessons because I wanted to appreciate the craft,” Brown said.

“I spent two hours twirling around the dancefloor, learning my Latin (dancing), learning my ballroom.

“It was also a confidence building exercise after what happened the last time I was on a dancefloor.”

“Well, if someone can pop ‘the worm’ into their paso doble, they could have a chance (on Dancing with the Stars),” Molloy joked.
