Domino’s Pizza was inundated with applicants keen to score the $100 per hour hand model role advertised by the fast-food restaurant chain last month — but it has found a winner.
Logan man Matt Strain, 39, was selected for the job, and he told 7NEWS.com.au on Friday the relatability of his mitts gave him the upper hand.

Strain enjoyed his first, and potentially last, day of work as a hand model on Thursday, as the job was “basically a one-off,” Strain said.
“But who knows what the future holds. If, you know, the public are demanding a return of my hands, who am I to deny the public?”
He said it was the perfectly ordinary appearance of his hands that set him apart from more than 100 other candidates.
“They are everyday hands, I think most people can identify with them,” he said.
“They are, to quote Seinfeld, delicate yet masculine.”
Domino’s ANZ people business partner Matt Baldwin said Stain’s video application was “a slice above the rest” and “incredibly creative”.
“(Strain) even said that his hands were shaveable upon request, which really shows his dedication to the role,” Baldwin told 7NEWS.com.au.
The company was looking for someone over 18 who could “lift a maximum of four pizza slices per hand” while being very still for long periods.
“Seeing the creative lengths people went to showcase their hands was great fun, from jazz hands to shadow puppets, we saw it all,” Baldwin said.
Strain told Domino’s that his hands as “unblemished from hard work”,
Despite the short-lived hand model role, the southeast Queensland teacher said he really put his back into it.
“The standing and leaning was an unexpected challenge … standing in a sort of awkward position for a bit. I mean, it wasn’t like laying bricks, but it was a challenge,” Strain said.
Luckily, after working up an appetite, Strain said he was allowed to “nibble on some of the props”.
He added that a highlight of the experience was getting to meet the Domino’s Australia Group CEO and managing director Don Meij, and learn about the old Silvio’s Dial-a-Pizza vans which Meij would drive part-time, before acquiring the Domino’s brand that would merge with Silvio’s.
“I do have an affinity with novelty cars, so that was an interesting chat,” Strain said.
The other highlight was “the secret items that are coming soon,” he said.
“Getting a sneak peek at that was pretty cool.”
