Did Godzilla Eat This Tesla Cybertruck?

Crashed, burned Tesla Cybertruck

If there was one thing that Elon Musk sold hard when he first introduced the Cybertruck, it was the fact that it would be tough. Go on Tesla’s website, and it promises the Cybertruck is “built for any planet” and “durable and rugged enough to go anywhere.” It would also be bulletproof. From the looks of it, though, this particular Cybertruck wasn’t tough enough for any planet. Which has us wondering what the hell happened. Did Godzilla eat this Cybertruck?

Clearly, this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill fender bender. This truck has been absolutely destroyed. If it didn’t have such a distinctive roofline, you would have no idea what you were looking at. A bunch of scrap metal? Honestly, it may still technically be a truck, but if you could get anything more than scrap value out of a single part of that truck, we’d be surprised. Maybe one of the wheels is OK? Possibly? The sharknado that destroyed this truck did a pretty good job of ensuring every single square inch got chewed on at least a little.

What someone is supposed to do with this truck isn’t clear, but IAAI has it listed for auction soon anyway. The primary damage is listed as “total burn,” and you know, judging from some of the photos, it does look like there might have been a bit of fire involved. Possibly even a whole lot of fire. It isn’t clear what caused the truck to burst into flames, but battery fires are serious business. EVs are great, but one downside is that when they do catch on fire, they burn hot, they burn long and they’re hard to truly extinguish.

Hopefully, everyone who was inside the Cybertruck at the time of the crash got out safely. This one looks gnarly.
