Denise Van Outen launches occasionwear that hides arms and shape curves

Denise Van Outen has teamed up with JD Williams to launch a range of occasionwear that aims to “redefine midlife fashion” – and fans are loving it.

The DJ and Strictly Come Dancing star worked with the fashion brand and curated a 12-piece edit including co-ords and dresses in bold colours and fun patterns, as well as vibrant accessories.

With prices starting from £24, the pieces are great for weddings, summer parties or holidays; and can be worn in different ways. The Anthology three-piece linen suit (£166 in total) is selling fast online as fans love the formal attire in the light-coloured, breathable linen fabric.

You can wear the waistcoat (£35) with a dark navy or black wide leg jeans instead of going monochrome with the maching trousers; or you can go for a pair of colettes (or Bermuda shorts) for a preppy look.

The Joanna Hope Burnout Maxi Dress, £100, has a vibrant lime colour on the shiny jacquard fabric. The puffy balloon sleeves are long enough to cover the arms while the bow feature at the back gives an optical illusion to a slimmer waist. You can add a pop of colour with a pair of green kitten heels to elgonate your body so you look taller.

Another fun piece is the £85 Floral Cotton Shift Dress, also from Joanna Hope, and shoppers said it’s “beautiful as it’s seen on picture”. The bold floral print and the straight A-line cut gives a flattering cut no matter your age and body shape. Shoppers love the shirred back panel for that “extra comfort” but most of them loved the practical hidden pockets on the sides.

Denise Van Outen said: “I am so excited to be working with JD Williams to curate an occasionwear edit that empowers midlife women to make their own dress code and express their unique personality and confidence through fashion. For special occasions, I believe in choosing outfits that reflect my personality and make me feel confident in my own skin.

“For a wedding day, I gravitate towards a captivating print that sets me apart, opting for a shorter-length dress like the Ro&Zo Animal Print Short Dress which feels fresh on a warm summer day.

“When going to the races, I like to choose a comfortable but stylish outfit such as a linen ensemble of skirt and waistcoat. For a more relaxed summer day event, I gravitate towards the beautiful satin top and trousers – for this particular outfit I have added a bit of my own personality by adding a black bow hair accessory to the shoulder to give it more impact.”

Denise is not the only celebrity that has launched special collaboration with fashion brands. Michelle Keegan recently launched a holiday-themed summer collection with Very, including trending white and blue striped tops, stylish suit co-ords and also crochet dresses.

Fearne Cotton brought her love of colours into her Nobody’s Child x Happy Place edit and shoppers can expect to find funky patterns shirt and shorts co-ord, denim jumpsuits and vibrant colours in Nobody’s Child’s iconic dresses.
