delhi budget 2024: Arvind Kejriwal’s Delhi government presents Rs 76,000 crore budget for ‘Ram Rajya’

Just ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Delhi government today presented state Budget for 2024-25 fiscal year in Delhi Assembly. Delhi Finance Minister Atishi presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the state assembly on Monday with an outlay of Rs 76,000 crore, and emphasized the government’s commitment to achieving the vision of good governance or Ram Rajya. She highlighted the significant transformation that Delhi has undergone in the past decade under the leadership of the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) government.

In her first budget speech, Atishi proposed an allocation of Rs 16,396 crore for the education sector.

“This is a moment of pride that Kejriwal government is presenting its tenth budget. I am not just presenting the tenth budget but a picture of changing Delhi. Kejriwal came as a ray of hope. We are all inspired by Ram Rajya. We are working hard towards realizing the dream of Ram Rajya,” Atishi said in the state assembly,” Atishi stated in the state assembly.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also announced that the Budget will be based on the theme of Ram Rajya

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has previously spoken about “Ram Rajya” and how his government is working for the benefit of the people of Delhi in accordance with its principles. He has highlighted the 10 principles of AAP’s governance inspired by “Ram Rajya’, which include ensuring no one goes hungry, providing equal and quality education and healthcare, 24-hour access to electricity, water supply, pilgrimage opportunities for the elderly, ensuring safety for citizens and women, employment for all, controlling inflation, and equal opportunities for all.

Finance Minister Atishi presented her first budget, while for the AAP government, it will be the 10th such annual exercise. The budget holds greater significance in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha election. With a focus on “Ram Rajya” in the budget, the party aims to send a message to voters about AAP’s model of governance and politics, which is not only religious but also has a socialist character, according to party sources.

Before presenting the budget, Atishi sought the blessings of Manish Sisodia’s mother and wife, both senior AAP figures. Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister, had been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 in connection with the excise policy case. He had resigned from the cabinet after his arrest. Last year, Kailash Gahlot had presented the budget in his absence.
