We’re no strangers to things being thrown at cars. Similarly, we’ve all seen someone toss litter from a vehicle without a care in the world. This, though, is a new level of cruelty: Tossing kittens into traffic from a moving car.

Police out in Naugatuck, Connecticut are searching for the driver of what appears to be a maroon 2013-2015 Honda Accord, who reportedly tossed two kittens from the car’s driver’s side door on the morning of July 8. A driver two vehicles behind the Accord claims to have seen an older woman toss both cats before continuing on her way.

Police apparently found both cats along the road, North Church Street in Naugatuck, but neither survived. It’s unclear whether the kittens were alive when thrown, but neither lasted until police arrived on the scene.

There are ways to get rid of cats, people. There are shelters, adoption resources, hell there are Facebook groups — someone would have been able to care for these two cats. To toss two living creatures into traffic, especially kittens so young — four to five months, according to police — is unimaginable. How do some people live with themselves?

If you know any maroon Accord owners out in Naugatuck, give them a call or shoot them a text. Ask what the hell is going on in their lives. Figure out what would drive a person to do such a thing to a kitten.
