Burglar Peels Open Cybertruck With Ease

Tesla co-founder and CEO Elon Musk verbally reacts in front of the newly unveiled all-electric battery-powered Tesla Cybertruck with broken glass on windows following a demonstation that did not go as planned on November 21, 2019 at Tesla Design Center in Hawthorne, California.

Tesla and its fans like to talk about how safe and impenetrable the Cybertruck is, but one cunning burglar proved them all wrong. He was able to pop one of the windows ajar and then peel the “shatter-proof glass” wide open. Despite this unauthorized breach, the Cybertruck never alerted the owner of the break-in.

“No Alarm, No Notifications to my phone… literally nothing happened just found it like this…..” Cybertruck owner Anuj Thakker posted to the Tesla CyberTruck Facebook page. He also posted footage from one of the Cybertruck’s cameras showing a guy pulled up in a red Nissan Altima. The thief gets out of the passenger door, pops the window open a crack and then peels it down. From there, he jumps through the window and pulls out a backpack. Then, he gets back in the Nissan and drives away.

Thakker’s Facebook post went on to say, “That can’t be right. Anyone know why there is no alarm system?” Buddy, who’s to say, you know? It’s definitely a bit worrisome that a car marketed on safety and security like the Cybertruck with its various security systems, alarms and cameras didn’t alert its owner of a very clear break-in. It’s also a bit troubling that the glass could be popped and ripped down so easily. I’m sure it’s not the most straightforward task, but this burglar made it look really easy.

It’s hard to make out the license plate of the Nissan in the Atlanta, Georgia native’s video. No one wants to see their stuff get stolen – especially when they were duped into buying a car marketed on safety and security. Honestly, it’s anyone’s guess why the Cybertruck didn’t act properly in this scenario, but I can say with some certainty that the Altima’s alarm would have gone off if the roles were reversed.
