Buick Grand National Is The Real Star Of Luka Dončić In New Sneaker Commercial

The Buick Grand National is one of the sickest cars ever, and now – over 40 years since it was first introduced – it’s staring in a Jordan sneaker commercial with one of the best basketball players in the NBA right now. We get to see Dallas Maverick superstar Luka Dončić behind the wheel of the all-back Grand National laying down skid marks around a basketball hoop. Amazing.

The video itself has a sort of grainy look to it – probably because the shoes have a bit of a throwback vibe, and the Grand National obviously does as well. The ad – called “6-Pt. Line” – shows some very long and curved skid marks being laid down well behind an NBA three-point line. It’s the six-point line now, babe. But, it doesn’t matter. Dončić gets out of the car and hits the shot. Sure, there’s some Hollywood trickery here, but that’s just how good he is. The background of the entire 25-second ad is a song called Miki Milane by Serbian singer Vera Matovic. It’s a real bop if I’m being honest.

Sure, you could argue that Luka is the star of this ad, but I’d say the Grand National is the real star. I mean, it’s in every single frame of the advertisement, and Luka isn’t. It’s even there when he takes that super long-range shot. We even get a few really sick close-ups of the GN, like the wheels screeching (with a Jordan logo spinning in the middle), Luka shifting the definitely-an-automatic transmission and the digital tachometer rising to redline. It’s so sick, man.

I can’t say for sure why Jordan decided to go with a Grand National for this advertisement, but I’m really glad they did. It’s a car that definitely doesn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserves. My best guess is they went with “6-Pt. Line” as a title and needed a car – such as the V6-powered Grand National – to match it. Regardless of the reason, it’s still awesome to see a GN getting love.
