Brisbane woman’s money hack to save $10,000 in 100 days

A Brisbane woman has set herself a money-saving challenge, using a very old-fashioned method.

Jenny Joo is attempting to save $10,000 in 100 days, with a money tin and physical cash.

Joo wrote out 100 days of savings goals, starting with $2 a day and increasing by $2 increments until the final saving goal of $200 in one day — totalling just under $10,000.

She emphasised she will not be putting her savings away in order, after social media users pointed out this would see her set aside more than $1000 in the last week of the challenge.

Joo even admitted she might be setting herself up to fail.

“Realistically, I probably can’t do this in 100 days consecutively, but I’ll try,” she said.

“If I can’t put it in one day, I won’t, and I’ll just put it in a day I can.

“But I will finish it.”

In her most recent video, Joo has reached day 71 of the challenge, and has even crossed off some of the most expensive days.

Some users pointed out the task could be extended over a larger period of time instead of just 100 days.

In the current cost-of-living crisis, many social media users said they simply do not have the additional funds to spare.

“Got the paper and pen, I just don’t have the daily money,” one user said.

“I don’t even get paid 10k in a year, let alone in 100 days,” another user said.

“I think she meant to put 100 years not 100 days, lol,” another person said.
