A Brisbane boy accused of being a serial burglar who posts footage of his alleged car-stealing exploits on social media has been slapped with 75 charges.

The 16-year-old, from Durack in the city’s outer west, was arrested last week before being accused of “numerous break and enters and stolen vehicles across the greater Brisbane region”, police said on Tuesday.

He has allegedly been targeting the east, west and inner-city areas of Brisbane over the past few months.

Police said he posted footage of himself committing alleged crimes on social media.

Doing so is an aggravating factor of his car-stealing charges, under legislation introduced last year, and carries a maximum penalty of 12 years in jail.

The boy was also charged with multiple counts each of stealing, burglary, attempted burglary, trespassing and unlawful driving.

He was taken into custody and was due to appear in the Brisbane Children’s Court on February 16.

The court appearance was closed to the public.
