Biden is 'a war criminal': Independent candidate Cornel West

(NewsNation) — Independent presidential candidate Cornel West, in an interview on “NewsNation Now,” voiced strong opposition to the proposed foreign aid bill allocating funds to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

West emphasized the need for a nuanced understanding of the conflicts in these regions and advocated for diplomatic solutions rather than further provocation.

“When it comes to Ukraine, we must grasp the implications of NATO expansion and its potential to escalate into a catastrophic conflict,” West stated. He called for an end to the war in Ukraine and urged diplomatic negotiations to ensure both Russian security and Ukrainian freedom.

Turning to Israel, West condemned what he described as “genocidal attacks” against Palestinians and criticized the withdrawal of humanitarian aid. He underscored the moral imperative to address genocide wherever it occurs, regardless of the identity of the victims.

“He is on the wrong side of morality when it comes to genocide,” West said.

West characterized President Joe Biden as a “war criminal” by highlighting America’s role in enabling conflicts through support for Israel. He stressed the importance of acknowledging the moral responsibility in such situations.

“I’m a Christian in the sense that every flag has to be under truth and under justice no matter what nation we’re talking about,” he said.

In response to Trump’s attacks on NATO and international security, West criticized the antagonistic rhetoric that he believes only escalates tensions with Russia. He cautioned against provoking nations with “gangsta sensibility,” referring to both Russian and American leadership.

“Putin has been a gangster for a long time. But Trump also was an American Gangster. He’s been living in cuckoo land in terms of saying anything he wants,” West said.

West also addressed the Israeli-Hamas conflict, advocating for an end to the occupation and the establishment of equality and dignity for both parties. He argued that prolonged oppression inevitably leads to violent resistance.

“All I’m saying is, we ought to have a morality and even a spirituality at this moment of overwhelming barbarity that’s taking place in Gaza,” he said.

West emphasized the need for constant integrity, honesty, dignity and humility in navigating complex geopolitical challenges. He expressed uncertainty about future political developments but stressed the importance of principled leadership.
