If we’ve learnt anything over the past few years, it’s that Australians are extremely protective about their water bottles.
Gone are the days when you could just pick up a replacement from your closest supermarket and call it a day.
Now every choice involves careful research, a testing period and a stainless-steel-non-leaking-large-enough-to-last-all-day size in excess of $50 a pop.

And with brands like Stanley and Frank Green leading the market for so long, there is now a new contender on the block in the form of Owala.
The brand came to my attention after a colleague purchased it on Amazon Australia, dubbing it the “ultimate” bottle for those on the go.
The Free Sip Insulated Stainless Steel water bottle comes in a broad range of colours and can be used for “sport” or “travel” according to Amazon.
It has a push button lid with a lock to prevent spillages and has both a free pour and straw “mouth” so you can choose how you want to consume your drink.
The double wall insulation keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours with a wide opening for cleaning and adding ice should you want to.
The material is BPA and phthalate-free but it’s not recommended for hot liquids.
“I bought this a couple days ago and it arrived super quick. I got the 32 ounce in iced breeze and I love it!!!! The lid clicks and seals really well, everything feels super secure and my absolute favourite part (literally bought this bottle just for this feature) the sip/chug mouthpiece,” one woman wrote.
“The carry handle makes it easier to hold on the go. Very cute design and nice colours. The light green bit on the outside is a hard rubber texture and can get dust and dirt on it easily but can be quickly cleaned,” said another.
A third added: “Most amazing drink bottle and keeps water cool for ages”.
