New Year’s Eve 2024 is right around the corner so you’ve only got a few more days to sort out what you’re going to be wearing.

While it might be a little late to order an outfit online — unless you’re in Sydney and ordering from The Iconic before December 29 — there are plenty of retailers who brick-and-mortar stores for you to take advantage of too if you want to venture into retailers on foot.
These are the options on my current hit list if you’re clinging to delivery.
1. Azzurielle Elvira Dress, $249.95 down to $199.96 at The Iconic
Now if you’re still wanting to purchase a piece online one of the best — and last — places to do it is at The Iconic.
The Elvira Dress is currently 20 per cent off and is just what you need for a balmy summer evening soiree.

Pair this one with some sneakers to tone it down or go all out in a pair of gold heels for a night out on the town.
2. & Other Stories Pleated Strappy Maxi Dress, $499 down to $239.52 at The Iconic
This is one of my favourite brands available at The Iconic because it’s so romantic and whimsical.
This Strappy Maxi Dress in particular is floaty and gives you room for movement so you’re not restricted if you find yourself on a dancefloor (or two).
It was actually already discounted to $299.40 before the retailer put an extra 20 per cent off on the sale price, so you’re getting the dress for less than half price.
I’d be popping a large bow in my hair to marry the look together.
3. & Other Stories Voluminous Pleated Detail Maxi Dress, $329 down to $157.92 at The Iconic
Apologies for the second & Other Stories selection but this one could be its own story.
If you’re looking to be “the moment” on NYE 2024 and you’ve got a very special Black Tie-style occasion to attend (lucky you) than I have to point you in the direction of this voluminous number.
It’s red and white so the post-Christmas colourings are on point but it’s also just $150 for all of that fabric. Be still my heart.
The sleeves can be worn off the shoulder or up high near your collarbone for variety and paired with a white heel and gold accessories you won’t be able to wipe the smile off your face.
4. Lover Seaside Mesh Layered Maxi Dress, $220 down to $120 at The Iconic
Why blend in with everyone else when this Lover dress was born to stand out?
It actually comes in two more muted tones — black and brick — but the seaside-inspired colourway is my favourite because you could be mistaken for a Van Gogh painting.
It’s actually a mini dress but with a sheer overlay that reaches down to your ankles so it could be worn to a wedding as well if you didn’t just want it for New Year’s Eve.
I’d wear my hair up with this one and let the dress do all of the talking. Minimal accessories required.
5. Acler Columbus Midi Dress, $450 down to $216 at The Iconic
It’s structured, it’s bright and you won’t trip over it later in the evening because it’s a midi length. I’d call that just about perfect.
This Acler gown has an incredible cape design that means there is an interesting back detail to look at just as much as the front will wow your friends and family.
While this might be a little bit too nice for a picnic it’s perfect for a delicious dinner in the city and it can be reworn again and again.
There are plenty of sizes currently left but I’d get in before they get snapped up.
6. Lover Varda Contrast Tulle Mini Dress, $270 down to $160 at The Iconic
If you want to go mini for the evening make it something super sexy and sweet like the Varda dress from Lover.
This looks classic at the top but becomes a bobble skirt, much like the style we used to enjoy in the early 2000s (just me?).
This reminds me of something a ballerina might wear in her downtime — although I haven’t had this confirmed.
Either way it’s party appropriate and will show off your pins.
7. Shona Joy Margot One Shoulder Cut Out Mini Dress, $395 to $316 at The Iconic
This is the ultimate dress-it-up-or-dress-it-down party dress.
The red is a standout and the sleeve and cut out details divulge interest without being overly revealing.
It has been price matched to the Shona Joy website, hence the sale, but it’s the sort of dress you can get years’ worth of wear out of so it’s worth the price tag.
I love the tight corset-style of the dress itself and the voluminous nature of the sleeve, a true 10/10.
