Given it was such a major night for Edebiri, the star’s red carpet look—styled by Danielle Goldberg—had to make a big splash. She looked the part of a winner: Edebiri wore a red satin column frock from Prada that featured a knotted and draped voile detail, and accessorized it with red satin pumps and a brushed leather clutch. “My dress was kind of a dream come true,” says Edebiri. “I was fortunate enough to have Prada do a custom look, and it’s this amazing red technical satin that has this voile knotted drape over it that comes into this really amazing train. They dyed these gorgeous shoes in a red satin to match everything.”
In addition to the slightly retro silhouette—inspired by images of ’60s girl groups!—Edebiri says her favorite aspects of the look was that it felt modern, fun, and comfortable. “This dress was genuinely so comfortable, and I think that comfortability helped me feel more confident and really just let the dress shine,” she says.
Edebiri isn’t done with the fashion serves yet, either. With other awards ceremonies on the horizon, such as the Emmys, the star says she and stylist Goldberg are ready to deliver even more striking style moments. “We’ve got a little game plan,” reveals Edebiri. “I’m very excited to show people the looks that we are coming up with.” She advises style-watchers to expect the unexpected. “One of the fun parts of getting to do this sort of thing is that you get to transform and be these different permutations of yourself, and maybe in a way that I might not necessarily choose to present myself when I’m working,” she says.
