Australian manufacturing group Hiro Brands enters voluntary administration leaving staff without work

Australian brand manufacturer Hiro Brands has entered voluntary administration, leaving 120 staff without work.

The brand, responsible for a range of well-known Australian products including cleaning, personal care and cosmetics products, entered administration on January 2.

Hiro Brands manufactures, distributes and markets popular brands including Organic Choice, Orange Power, Aware Sensitive, Trix, ulta3, MUD, Billie Goat and Aus Medic Co.

David Hardy, James Dampney and James Stewart from KPMG Australia were appointed as voluntary administrators.

Hardy said the group owns “a portfolio of leading personal care, cosmetic, and household goods brands whose products are regularly used by Australian consumers”.

“Regrettably, following our appointment it became evident the financial position of the business would not allow the continuation of trading activities,” he said.

Hardy said as a result, they have terminated the “employment arrangements” of “most employees” — about 120 people.

“We are urgently seeking buyers for the Hiro Brands Group’s assets, including brands and intellectual property,” he said.

“We will be working with all stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and customers, to maximise the outcome.”
