Chloë Bailey isn’t the kind of artist who opts for a signature beauty look. Almost every time we see the actor-singer, she and her hair stylist Fesa Nu have created a totally unique work of art — and the occasion of the 2024 Grammys is no exception. On Sunday night, Bailey stepped onto the red carpet with a brand new, red hair color. (Not unlike, we should point out, her sister Halle’s shade of Little Mermaid red.) The shade is a golden, burnished copper; it falls somewhere between the red we’ve seen on Phoebe Dynevor and Ice Spice’s signature shade.
Bailey has toyed with autumn hair colors in the past, but we’ve never seen her combine the color with the classic, old Hollywood wave style she wore on the Grammys carpet. The look is styled with a deep, Jessica Rabbit-worthy side part, from which Bailey’s hair flows just past her shoulders in gentle, Coke-can-sized curls.
Just south of Bailey’s new, red hair, she opted for makeup that’s vintage-looking but not quite as vintage as her hair style. She wore bold yet classic eye makeup: gold shadow, top and bottom eyeliner, and lots of lash. She finished the look with a Y2K-era dark-lip-liner-light-lipstick combo.
The five-time Grammy nominee isn’t up for any awards this time around, but she’s still managed to surprise us with this hair color transformation. We can’t wait to see what shade she pulls off next.
