Young woman’s body found in Tweed Heads home during welfare check, injured man nearby arrested

A young woman has been found dead in a home in Tweed Heads on the NSW-Queensland border.

A man with hand injuries found at a nearby businesses is under police guard in hospital in relation to the incident.

The 25-year-old woman’s body was found at the Lakes Dr home about 5.50pm on Wednesday.

Police discovered the body after receiving a call expressing concern for her welfare.

The nature of the woman’s injuries have not been revealed but she has not been able to be formally identified.

Police have cordoned off the house and are examining the scene.

After the body was discovered, police inquiries led officers to find the injured 25-year-old man at a business on Kennedy Dr.

He is under police guard in Tweed Heads Hospital.

Investigations continue.
