Young NSW man found in Glenellen with severe burns as police investigate

A young NSW man has been airlifted to hospital with significant burns and placed in a coma, with police investigating “suspicious” circumstances surrounding his injuries, 7NEWS.com.au understands.

NSW Ambulance paramedics received reports a man had suffered burns at a home on Russel St, in Howlong about 30km northwest of Albury, at 5am on Sunday, January 7.

But the 23-year-old Riverina man was found an hour-and-half later by NSW paramedics over 40km away, on Glenellen Road at Glenellen.

He was treated at the Glenellen scene for burns to his upper torso and face, before being taken to hospital.

“The 23-year-old-man was taken to Albury Hospital before being airlifted to Prince Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, where he remains in an induced coma,” NSW Police said.

It is understood police are investigating if another person was involved.

Police are urging anyone with relevant information to contact Crime Stoppers.
