A young man has been arrested after he allegedly caused a small explosion inside a Westfield bathroom in Sydney’s south.
The explosion in the Westfield Miranda toilets unfolded about 2pm on Wednesday and reportedly knocked at least one person to the ground.
A 21-year-old man was allegedly seen carrying chemicals shortly before the explosion and is believed to have entered the bathroom, 7NEWS understands.

Police allege the man was throwing bottles of chemicals inside a bathroom on level one of the centre.
The small explosion injured one man who was inside the toilets at the time.
It’s understood he suffered a perforated eardrum.
The 21-year-old man was arrested by police and taken to Sutherland Police Station before being transported to Sutherland Hospital, where he remains, undergoing an assessment by police.
The young man suffered a minor injury during the incident, NSW Police said.
His intentions are not yet known.
Several bottles, a knife, and other items were located by police upon arrival and seized for further forensic analysis.
The shopping centre was not evacuated at the time.
