Woman sought after small child nearly abducted in North Toronto

A woman is being sought after a small child was nearly abducted in North Toronto on Saturday.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a call for an assault in the Yonge St. and Eglinton Ave. area around noon.

It is alleged the suspect followed the two victims who were walking their dog. The victims also had their small child with them.

Cops say the suspect attempted to take the child from a baby carrier backpack, but one of the parents attempted to intervene and the suspect assaulted the victim.

The woman is described as white, in her early 50s, 5-foot-2, thin build and grey hair. She was wearing a long black coat, a pink tuque, pink gloves, grey sweatpants, and black boots with white soles.
