Woman seriously injured when struck by car in Liverpool, Sydney

A woman was thrown a short distance across a road after being hit by a car in Sydney‘s west, prompting those responsible to allegedly flee in a taxi.

Police say the woman was hit at the intersection of Bigge St and Elizabeth Dr, Liverpool, just before 2.05pm on Friday.

The male driver of the vehicle, a Grey Subaru Impreza, did not stop and went on to crash into a pole.

He, along with his passenger, abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene in a taxi.

The 31-year-old pedestrian, who suffered serious head injuries, was later found by police.

She was taken to Liverpool Hospital where she underwent surgery.

The Subaru was seized by police.

“A crime scene was established, with officers attached to the Metropolitan and Southern Crash Investigation Unit commencing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” police said.
