The woman was treated by NSW paramedics outside the Randwick unit block on Frenchman’s Rd, before she was transported to St Vincent’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Police have been told the woman was involved in an argument with a man known to her before he allegedly stabbed her,” NSW Police said.
The alleged attacker, a 25-year-old man, was pinned to the ground by the bystanders who tackled him and was held there until police arrived at the scene.
He was arrested and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital under police guard as a precaution.
“Roberts Avenue has been closed; motorists and members of the public are advised to avoid the area,” NSW Police said.
“Multiple crime scenes have been established in the area, which continue to be forensically examined.”
Investigations are ongoing.
