Woman killed by fallen tree branch in Sydney’s southwest amid wild winds

A woman in her 60s has been killed when a tree branch landed on top of her in Sydney’s southwest.

The incident happened on Castlereagh St in Liverpool at 1pm on Sunday when parts of Sydney experienced very windy conditions.

Paramedics tried to revive the woman, but she died at the scene.

The woman is yet to be formally identified.

NSW Police are investigating.

The Bureau of Meteorology forecast winds of up to 65km/hr along the coast and the chance of a thunderstorm across part of Sydney on Sunday.

The State Emergency Service issued a warning at 10.45am for the South Coast, Illawarra, Sydney, Hunter and Mid North Coast, advising residents to stay indoors, secure outdoor furniture and avoid parking under trees.

Conditions are expected to ease in the evening, with a forecast of 19 degrees on Monday and the slight chance of a shower.
