Woman injured in crash while picking up granddaughter from McDonald’s in Werrington

A woman has been seriously injured after a driver crashed into her while she was picking up her granddaughter from a McDonald’s shift in Western Sydney.

About 9.55pm on Wednesday, emergency services were called to the Great Western Highway at Werrington following reports of a two-car crash.

7NEWS understands one of the drivers, a 70-year-old woman, was picking up her granddaughter after a shift at McDonald’s on Werrington road.

The grandmother was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition.

The other driver, a 38-year-old man, was not injured.

He was taken to Penrith Police Station where he is assisting police.

A crime scene has been established.

Investigations are ongoing
