A young woman and girl are in hospital with serious injuries after a driver allegedly lost control while doing burnouts in New South Wales.
A 20-year-old woman and 14-year-old girl were seriously injured when the Ford Falcon sedan hit a power pole the pair were standing next to in Port Stephens in the Hunter region on Friday evening.
Police allege the driver was performing burn-outs in front of a crowd on Somerset Dr, North Arm Cove when they spun out and crashed, causing the vehicle to catch alight.

The driver then fled the scene.
Firefighters were called to extinguish the blaze, and paramedics treated the victims for pelvic and leg injuries.
They were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
Police are calling for the driver of the sedan to come forward as investigations continue.
