Wisconsin department store takes advantage of freezing temps

TWO RIVERS, WIS. (WFRV) – Schroeder’s department store in Two Rivers was founded in 1891 and is known for selling retail clothing.

Customers stop by to purchase clothing that will keep them warm during the winter months, and for good reason. Temperatures are so low that blue jeans are frozen solid outside of the store.

In front of Schroeder’s storefront on Washington Street, you will find a couple of pairs of blue jeans standing outside in the frigid temperatures. Schroeder’s general manager AJ Ashenbrenner says it’s a creative way to warm hearts during the cold Winter months.

“I dipped them in water, hung them to dry, and put them in a snowbank, yesterday we had somebody come in right off the street saying that she was driving by and had to stop and come in and tell us how cute it was” explained, Ashenbrenner.

The jeans will remain on display until temperatures begin to rise.
