Watch: Marquette’s Kam Jones nails fourth-three pointer in first half

College basketball fans should keep an eye on Marquette’s Kam Jones, who has been a certified bucket in the NCAA Tournament.

Jones drilled his fourth three-pointer with 0:57 remaining in the first half against the Colorado Buffaloes in the second round of the tournament, giving the Golden Eagles a 45-34 lead. The junior guard scored 16 points and shot 66 percent from the field in the first half.

Jones made some unusual sacrifices before the NCAA Tournament, opting not to shave his beard or get his hair cut. He’s also staying off social media.

“I’m going to be grimy as long as we’re here,” Jones recently told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “I plan on being grimy for a minute. I don’t like looking in the mirror at the moment. But we’re not here to look pretty. We’re trying to chase something.”

Apparently, his strategy is working. In an 87-69 victory over Western Kentucky in the first round of the tournament, Jones scored 28 points and shot 50 percent from three. Over his past three games, he’s averaged 21.3 points per game.

Marquette hasn’t made the Sweet 16 since 2013. If Jones maintains his hot hand, he gives the Golden Eagles a solid chance to advance and make a deep run.
