Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is doing everything in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, including catching passes.
Facing a second-and-5 at the Baltimore 18-yard line, Jackson threw a pass that was batted up in the air, after which he chased the ball down, caught it and turned it into a 13-yard gain.
The Ravens drive stalled, resulting in a punt. Still, Jackson – a 2019 league MVP – demonstrated excellent presence of mind on this play. An interception would’ve been costly, as the Chiefs could easily have scored points off of a turnover.
The Chiefs defense presents a significant challenge. It’s second in the NFL in points allowed (17.1). As a result, Jackson and the Baltimore offense have struggled to get going in the first half, even though it’s second in the league in points scored (28.7).
Through two quarters, he’s completed 5-of-11 passes for 67 yards, one TD and an 87.8 passer rating. The Ravens have only generated 111 yards.
