For the second straight night at Baum-Walker Stadium, Wehiwa Aloy made the home crowd go absolutely nuts.
With Arkansas leading 5-3 against Ole Miss in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Hogs had a man on first with two outs. Aloy made sure to give the Razorbacks some extra insurance, absolutely crushing a ball to make it a 7-3 ballgame.
The home run is Aloy’s team-best eighth of the season, leading Razorback fans to believe he could be the man they turn to for hope when a big hit is needed.
The Sacramento State transfer has been a breath of fresh air for an Arkansas offense that hasn’t been as explosive this year as many expected, though the Hogs are still playing well enough regardless to stack wins.
If Aloy can continue to hit homers on a consistent basis, he could be a key piece of what looks like a juggernaut. Arkansas’ offense may not be elite statistically, but as Aloy showed in last night’s win, it shows up when it needs to.
Ole Miss certainly isn’t the best the SEC has to offer, but it’s notable that Arkansas’ clutch gene seems to be showing early on in the season. Head coach Dave Van Horn can only hope Aloy still has ice in his veins come June, when the Hogs will be seeking their first ever College World Series title.
