(NewsNation) — Less than a month after Pat Sajak retired from “Wheel of Fortune,” there are signs the show’s co-host Vanna White may sign off as well, according to The Daily Mail.
A source told the publication that White, 67, does not “jibe” with Sajak’s replacement, TV host Ryan Seacrest, 49. The two have already filmed two episodes of “Wheel of Fortune” for the upcoming season, which premieres in September.
Even before Sajak’s final episode, which aired June 7, White admitted she was hesitant to stay on the show without her longtime TV partner, as they had been together for 41 years.
This comes after White negotiated a significant pay increase, with reports stating she had previously been making $3 million, with no raises in around 15 years, compared to Sajak’s $15 million. Fox News reported last September that White ultimately extended her contract for two additional years, meaning she will stay on through the 2025-2026 season.
“Vanna feels that she has put her time in. She devoted her entire life to his show and she had an incredible run while making a fortune,” The Daily Mail reported a source as saying. “She knows that the show needs to go in a different direction and appeal to a younger demographic. She wants the show to continue.”
Should White end up leaving when her contract ends, a likely successor would be Sajak’s daughter, Maggie. White’s already publicly endorsed the 29-year-old for the job, saying Maggie Sajak’s been around “Wheel of Fortune” her whole life.
“She’s precious, she’s beautiful, she’s very good,” White told E! of Maggie. “I think she learned a lot from her father because he’s such a good interviewer.”
