US Republican congressman Ronny Jackson has revealed his nephew was wounded at the presidential campaign rally in Pennsylvania where Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt.
Trump was shot in the ear as he addressed supporters at the rally, his last before the Republican National Convention starts on Monday in Wisconsin.
The shooter has been identified by the FBI as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who attempted to take out the presumptive Republican nominee from a nearby rooftop, before he was shot and killed by officers at the event.

One person was killed in the attack, while two other attendees were critically injured.
Jackson said on X that his nephew was among members of his family who were “sitting in the front, near where the President was speaking”.
“They heard shots ringing out — my nephew then realised he had blood on his neck and something had grazed and cut his neck,” he said.
The Texas representative and former physician to Trump said that although his nephew was hurt, he was treated in a first aid tent and sent on his way. “Thankfully his injury was not serious and he is doing well,” he said.
While in the medical tent, Jackson’s nephew and sister-in-law encountered another member of the crowd who’d been less fortunate. Appearing on Fox News, Jackson said they saw an unlucky rally-goer lying dead on a gurney with a “devastating” wound to the head.
“Thank you to all those that have reached out to check on him,” Jackson added on X. “Please join my family and me in praying for all who were injured and the life lost. The President and the survivors are lucky to be alive.”
Taking to his own social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said it was “God alone” that prevented Crooks killing him in a statement released hours after the attack.
“We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our faith and defiant in the face of wickedness,” a combative Trump stated.
“Our love goes out to the other victims and their families. We pray for the recovery of those who were wounded, and hold in our hearts the memory of the citizen who was so horribly killed.”
Trump also called on US citizens to unite, while “not allowing evil to win”.
