UK TV presenter Nick Sheridan dies suddenly aged 32

UK TV presenter Nick Sheridan has died aged 32 after he “collapsed while out running”.

The journalist for BBC Scotland died in hospital on March 6, days after suffering a suspected aneurysm, according to STV News.

Sheridan, who presented Reporting Scotland, Drivetime, The Nine and Seven Days, is being remembered as a “wonderful broadcaster and superb writer”.

“Nick has been a wonderful colleague,” said Gary Smith, BBC Scotland’s Head of News and Current Affairs.

“He was a hugely talented journalist, presenter and author — and one of those rare people who light up the lives of everyone around them.

“Our hearts go out to his parents, to his partner and all his family and friends”.

Among those paying tribute to Sheridan are colleagues and top politicians.

“Nick had the most charming sense of humour that was both wicked and joyful at the same time,” Scottish weather presenter Philip Petrie said on X (formerly Twitter).

“I’m just utterly shocked and saddened by this news. My memories of Nick are all happy.”

Former First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon said: “So terribly sad to read this. It is truly awful. Nick was young, talented, vivacious, and full of potential.

“What a horrible, senseless loss. My thoughts are with his family, colleagues and many friends.”

Sheridan worked in journalism for more than a decade as well as releasing children’s books about journalism.

He had three books, Breaking News, The Case of the Runaway Brain and The Case of the Phantom Treasure.
