A car has hit and killed a toddler who appeared to have left her home after being put to bed on Friday.
The two-year-old girl “got out of her bed and walked out of the house” while her parents were working around the family home in Allen Township, a small community about an hour southeast of Kalamazoo, Michigan in the US, according to local police.
Officers called to a “car versus pedestrian crash” found the young child in the road at 8.20pm on Friday.

The child was taken to a nearby hospital where “she succumbed to her injuries,” police said.
Officials believe the toddler walked into the street where a 2012 VW Jetta, driven by a 38-year-old man, hit her.
They said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor and did not specify if the driver will face any charges.
The driver’s name was not publicly released by Michigan State Police.
An autopsy will be performed on the child, Jackson Post Troopers said, and the investigation is ongoing.
