Two women dead after being swept off rocks at Kurnell in Sydney

Two women have died after being swept off rocks at Kurnell, in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.

Three women were pulled into the water near Yena Rd in Kurnell at about 4.30pm on Monday. One managed to climb to safety.

“One woman was able to exit the water and climb onto rocks before she was assisted by members of the public,” police said.

The bodies of two other women were pulled from the water after being located using a police helicopter.

Paramedics and a helicopter doctor attempted to revive them, but they died at the scene.

NSW Police said the women are yet to be formally identified.

“Police have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident, however, no suspicious circumstances have been identified at this time,” police said.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
