Two people killed in horror crash in Balgowlah, Sydney

A man and a woman have been killed in a horrific crash in Sydney’s north.

The pair were driving a black Toyota Corolla along Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation in Balgowlah when they crashed into a tree before their car erupted in flames about 10.45pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, and NSW Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire.

Both died at the scene prior to the arrival of paramedics, according to police.

“Whilst yet to be positively identified, the driver is believed to be a 23-year-old man and the passenger a 26-year-old woman,” police said.

“Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene that was later examined by specialist police.

“An investigation has commenced to determine if speed was a factor.”

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
