Two people killed in a fiery crash in Sydney’s northern beaches on Wednesday night have been identified as Matthew Wong and Kasia Kulary, as tributes for them begin to pour in.
The pair were on their way home from a car meet when the Toyota Corolla 23-year-old Wong was driving smashed into a tree, sparking a huge explosion, on Burnt Bridge Deviation in Balgowlah about 10.45pm.
Wong and Kulary, 26, died at the scene before emergency services arrived.

Friends gathered at the site of the devastation on Thursday to lay flowers and farewell two people they say loved cars.
Kulary’s friend Daisy said she was an amazing person who had so much life left to live.
Her brother Czars Kulary described her as “the light of all of our lives”.
The pair was heading home from a car meet near Taronga Zoo when they were killed.
One local resident told 7NEWS they heard a “really loud screech and then a crash”.
“Then a few minutes after that there was a lot of yelling and a lot of people asking if everybody was OK, if there was a fire extinguisher anywhere,” they said.
Another said she was “really sorry to hear that people have lost their lives”.
Detectives say it is clear speed was a factor in the crash and neighbours claim the stretch of road is notorious for hooning.
Traffic and Highway Patrol Assistant Commissioner David Driver urged drivers to take caution.
“We really need people to understand that every moment they’re in a vehicle or using our roads in any form, every moment matters,” he said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage of the crash is asked to contact police.
