TV presenter Jesse Baird mourned at Melbourne service

Heartbroken family and friends have gathered to remember Jesse Baird, who was allegedly murdered alongside his partner Luke Davies in Sydney last month.

Hundreds were on hand to farewell the TV presenter at Melbourne’s Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, with those attending Tuesday’s memorial asked to wear bright colours to honour the 26-year-old.

Family members including Baird’s parents were joined by mourners and former colleagues from Network 10, where he worked on the channel’s morning show.

“My heart is broken my darling boy and I love you more than this world,” Helen Baird said in a tribute to her son.

“There will never be another you.”

Baird was described as an empathetic person who squeezed plenty into his 26 years of life.

“Our hearts are broken. You’ll be missed but never forgotten,” father Gary Baird said.

Balloons spelling out Baird’s name adorned the convention centre’s stage alongside photos of him smiling at various ages.

Baird grew up in nearby Diamond Creek and was a skilled swimmer and footballer who officiated more than 60 AFL matches as a goal umpire.

He graduated from Loyola College in Watsonia in 2015 before moving to Queensland and later Sydney to further his television presenting career.

A service for Davies, who worked as a Qantas flight attendant, will be held in Queensland in April.

Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon remains in custody after being charged with murdering Baird and Davies at Baird’s home at Paddington in inner-city Sydney on February 19.

Investigators allege the 28-year-old used a police-issued firearm to kill the couple.

Detectives allege Lamarre-Condon killed Baird in a premeditated attack after a months-long campaign of predatory behaviour.
