Kennedy got a rock star’s welcome at an arena in the battleground state city of Glendale on Friday, complete with pyrotechnics and a Foo Fighters song blasting.

Onstage, Trump praised RFK Jr., who he said “brought together people from across the political spectrum grounded in the values of his father, Robert F. Kennedy, a great man, and his uncle John F. Kennedy,” and promised to create a commission to investigate presidential assassinations that would release any remaining classified information on the JFK assassination.

The National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) has cited the infamous 1857 Dred Scott Supreme Court decision, which stated that enslaved people weren’t citizens, to argue that Vice President Kamala Harris is ineligible to run for president according to the Constitution.

The Republican group’s platform and policy document noted that “The Constitutional qualifications of Presidential eligibility” states that “No person except a natural born Citizen, shall be eligible, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”

The US rock band said they were not asked for permission over the song’s use and “would not have granted it” if they had.

Kennedy, who suspended his campaign as an independent presidential candidate on Friday, joined Trump onstage in Arizona, as pyrotechnics blasted and the Foos song played.

In a campaign email, Robert F Kennedy Jr said he suspended his campaign “with a sense of victory” because his campaign elevated “key issues,” such as “corruption,” children’s health, “ending the war machine,” and ending “government censorship, surveillance, and information control.”

Kennedy endorsed Donald Trump on Friday, saying in his campaign email that while Trump talks about these issues, he also disagrees with the former president on a range of subjects.

“I believe I can best serve these goals as part of a unity cabinet inside the Trump administration,” Kennedy said.

But he added that “I am not naive. I know there is no guarantee that fine sentiments will translate into meaningful action. I have come to this decision through many days of meditation and prayer, during which I have cycled through all of the emotions and arguments that my supporters have expressed to me, from every direction.”

Robert F Kennedy Jr mentioned Joe Biden’s name eleven times in a speech moments after praising the RNC for not focusing on the US president.

The independent candidate abandoned his own presidential campaign on Friday 23 August and endorsed Republican Donald Trump, ending a bid he began as a Democrat trading on one of the most famous names in American politics.

During a press conference, he railed against chronic disease, “corruption” in health agencies, and the Democratic Party – focusing part of his attack on Mr Biden.

“In Chicago, Democratic speakers mentioned Donald Trump 147 times just on the first day, who needs a policy when you have Trump to hate?” he asked.

“In contrast, at the RNC, President Biden was mentioned only twice in four days.”

Donald Trump is set to campaign in a number of swing states in the upcoming week.

On Thursday, August 29, the former president is scheduled to appear at 3.30pm EDT in Potterville, Michigan to speak about the economy, inflation, and manufacturing, according to his campaign.

That same day, Trump will also host a town hall in La Crosse, Wisconsin at 6pm CDT.

The following day, Friday, August 30, Trump is set to hold a rally in Johnstown, Pennsylvania at 4.30pm EDT.

Dr Fauci, a longtime public health official who became a household name as part of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, is has now been discharged and is expected to recover fully, a spokesperson said.

“Tony Fauci has been hospitalized with a case of West Nile virus. He is now home and is recovering. A full recovery is expected,” the spokesperson said in a statement shared with the Washington Post. The outlet reported that Dr Fauci had spent six days in hospital before being discharged.

Rumours had abounded that she would carry on the mantle of Hillary Clinton by wearing “suffragette white” to signal the historic nature of her candidacy. But, as an aide replied tautly when I asked if we could expect her to talk about the prospect of being the first female president: “Kamala doesn’t need to prove her credentials.”

So the message in Chicago has differed from the failed Clinton campaign of 2016 and Hillary’s persistent citing of her encounters with the “glass ceiling”. Harris plays down this side of her beliefs – or perhaps calculates that, beyond sympathetic voters, Americans do not always warm to women talking about their struggles.

An economical, well-crafted speech was pitched to move Harris from the niche of feminist, liberal Californian, which is being moulded by the Trump-Vance camp into a caricature of ultra-leftish, busybody activism, to an all-American everywoman: a commonsensical, straight-talking, safe pair of hands on America and the West’s security.
