Former President Donald Trump’s children responded on social media in varying ways to the attempted assassination of their father, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, during a campaign speech in Pennsylvania at the weekend.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., used multiple messages on X, formerly Twitter, to accuse Democrats of inciting the attempt on his dad’s life.
“Don’t tell me they didn’t know exactly what they were doing with this crap,” the Trump scion wrote in one post. “Calling my dad a ‘dictator’ and a ‘threat to Democracy’ wasn’t some one-off comment. It has been the *MAIN MESSAGE* of the Biden-Kamala campaign and Democrats across the country!!!”
In another, he said: “Dems and their friends in the media knew exactly what they were doing with the ‘literally Hitler’ bullshit!”
Trump Jr. also called out media coverage of the shooting.
Eric Trump first shared a photograph of his father standing up in the immediate aftermath of the shooting and captioned it, “This is the fighter America needs!”
“Never Surrender!!” he wrote in a second post.
In another post, Eric Trump shared pictures featuring his late mother, Ivana Trump, and said: “Two years ago today, we lost this incredible woman! I have no doubt she was watching down on my father last night – it was nothing short of divine intervention…”
Ivanka Trump, meanwhile, first wrote, “Thank you for your love and prayers for my father and for the other victims of today’s senseless violence in Butler, Pennsylvania. I am grateful to the Secret Service and all the other law enforcement officers for their quick and decisive actions today. I continue to pray for our country. I love you Dad, today and always.”
She later shared a picture of herself with her late mother, Ivana Trump.
“Two years ago today, my mom passed away. I believe she was watching over Dad last night during the attempt on his life,” she wrote. “I miss her every day and pray for the safety of the family and friends she left behind.”
And Tiffany Trump said the “outpouring of love and support for my dad is deeply appreciated.”
“Thank you God for keeping my father alive. Political violence is never the answer,” she wrote. “God bless the secret service and law enforcement who fearlessly intervened. Please include the families of the victims in your prayers. As you saw today, my father is a fighter and he will continue to fight for you and the USA.”
