Travis Kelce is opening up on how he has managed to stay “grounded” amid his highly-publicized romance with Taylor Swift.

In a interview with ABC’s Good Morning America that aired on Thursday, Kelce, 34, credited his friends and family for helping him deal with the immense spotlight that has been focused on his personal life.

“I’ve always been a very grounded guy,” he said. “You know, it might not come off like that when I’m playing football … but off the field, I just wanna be a genuine person. Somebody that seems very relatable … if anybody asks me for a picture and it’s just not the moment to take a picture, you know, I’ll have a conversation with you.”

“I’m so fortunate, so grateful of everything that comes my way in life,” he said. “I feel like I’m on top of the mountain, even after winning the Super Bowl and having the off-season that I’m having.”

When the show’s correspondent Will Reeves asked Kelce to rate his life on a scale of 1 to 10, he replied: “20? 100? … Livin’ the dream, baby.”

Kelce isn’t looking too far ahead. After winning his third Super Bowl championship this past February, the nine-time Pro Bowler said he’s just trying to be content with where he is in his life.

“I’m so in the present, man. Just being present during the now is something I really pride myself on,” he told GMA. “And I try not to get too far down the road because you just never know what opportunities are gonna present themselves. So I know I got a 2024 football season coming up that I’m pretty fired up about.”

Kelce and Swift first sparked dating rumours when the pop star made a surprise appearance at Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on the NFL tight end’s Kansas City Chiefs last September.

As the NFL season rolled into the fall, Swift, 34, became a fixture at Chiefs games at home and on the road. Her appearances led to an increase in TV ratings and her romance with Kelce saw his jersey sales shoot up nearly 400%.

Swift discussed the high-profile romance in a profile piece after she was named Time’s Person of the Year last December.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift told the magazine. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

After revealing that he had tried to connect with Swift last summer when she was in the midst of her Eras Tour, Kelce told the WSJ Magazine that there were people in Swift’s circle who were “playing Cupid” during a tour stop in Kansas City.

The two went public with their relationship as the NFL season played on, with Swift cheering on the Chiefs in between her concert tour of South America.

With the Chiefs in the Super Bowl last February, Swift had to fly across nine time zones and the international date line from Japan to Las Vegas to land in time for kickoff.

“Thank you for coming, baby,” Kelce said to Swift on the field after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22.

“I can’t believe you,” Swift said repeatedly as Kelce thanked Swift “for the support” and “for coming.”

“How did you do that?” Swift asked.

As the pair hugged and kissed one another, Kelce said, “Thank you for making it halfway across the world. You’re the best, baby. The absolute best.”

As they kissed, Swift repeated, “Oh, my God.”

“Was it electric?” Kelce asked before the two shared another kiss.

“It was unbelievable,” Swift replied.

In his post-game press conference, Kelce told reporters that the pair are “on top of the world.”

“I think the values we stand for and just who we are as people — we love to shine light on others, shine light on the people that help and support us, and on top of that, I think we both just love life,” he said.
