Trade season has officially begun in the PWHL.
The first deal in league history was completed Sunday when PWHL Boston sent Toronto-born defender Sophie Jaques to PWHL Minnesota in exchange for Kelowna, B.C., native Abby Cook and Finnish forward Susanna Tapani.

Jaques, 23, was the 10th overall selection in the first PWHL draft and was signed to a three-year deal.
Cook, 25, signed with Minnesota as a free agent on a one-year deal, while Tapani, 30, was a fifth-round selection in the draft and is on a two-year deal.

The league is expected to announce an official trade deadline later this week, but this first deal should grease the wheels for more between now and that soon-to-be-announced deadline.
All deals must result in both teams remaining compliant with league roster specifications. That must happen before Wednesday’s games with respect to his particular deal, which leaves Boston one player over the active roster limit and Minnesota one player below the limit.
