“Got run over by a food delivery guy at Spadina and Cecil who ran a red light. Biker saw us, got back on his bike and rode away as my mom screamed for help and for someone to stop him. Spent (six hours) at the pet hospital. How many (people), kids, and pets have to be hurt before something is done?”

Kiwi, who appears to have a noticeable gash on its head above its left eye, is described on its Instagram account as a “Malshi. Foodie. Cuddles. TO dog. I like to chase pigeons.”

Malshi refers to being a mix of Maltese and Shih Tzu parents.

Support for the downed doggie on Instagram was plentiful.

“This makes me so upset and irritated! All of Toronto is literally catered to bikes and yet they do stupid stuff like this. Absolutely ridiculous and ignorant and irresponsible people!” wrote @nesstorress.

“Makes my heart hurt. I’m so sorry! Sadly some people could care less who they hurt,” added @xtina_2222.

“Very Sad. People are not aware of what’s going on around them. Cars and bikes need to slow down,” said @ladrakette.

Toronto Police were asked to comment on the incident but didn’t immediately provide a response.
