Alleged drunk driver who killed Johnny Gaudreau and NHLer’s brother worked at rehab centre
By now we all know the tragic story of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, and how they were struck down in their prime by an alleged drunk driver in New Jersey while they were in their hometown for their sister’s wedding.
Well, it turns out the accused, one Sean Higgins, worked at a rehabilitation centre and has since been placed on leave from his job as a financial officer following his arrest, Dan Bilicki reported.

Higgins also listed himself as a decorated U.S. Army major who served in the 44th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in Kosovo, according to his LinkedIn profile, and had been in the New Jersey Army National Guard since 2008 and was still active.
Cops allege Higgins slammed his Jeep Grand Cherokee into the backs of the Gaudreau brothers as they were biking the night before their sister’s wedding.
They were pronounced dead at the scene. Higgins was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol and has been charged with two counts of death by auto.
Higgins was ordered to remain in custody until a Sept. 5 hearing, where he did not appear remorseful.
His detention hearing ended up being pushed to Sept. 13 after a judge explained that he met with the accused’s lawyers and prosecutors, and both sides agreed to move the date.

Man takes homeless Toronto woman on date after ghosting her
A TikToker whose page shows how he asks out women pretty much everywhere he goes met a homeless woman on the streets of Toronto, set up a date with her, then failed to turn up, Denette Wilford reported.
The man, known as Prince, had an explanation for the ghosting and the two ended up reconnecting.
And while they appeared to have a good time, it’s unknown whether they will live happily ever after.
Given his TikTok schtick, we have our doubts.

German efficiency is coming to the GO Transit train system in four months’ time when Deutsche Bahn, the largest rail company in the world, takes over the backend of train operations for the province’s commuter rail system in the new year.
The 23-year contract that starts on Jan. 1 will see a company called ONxpress Transportation Partners run behind-the-scenes aspects of the rail system that services Toronto, Hamilton, Oshawa, Barrie, Kitchener and more, Brian Lilley reported.
Most notably is that by applying new IT, built around industry standards, there will be 12 more trains available to service commuters without actually adding any cars to the rolling stock of the GO Train system, according to the CEO of Deutsche Bahn’s international operations.

MAGA supporter booted from flight for offensive Trump shirt
A passenger on a Delta Airlines flight was escorted off a plane for allegedly wearing a T-shirt that featured Donald Trump giving the middle finger.
Actually, two middle middle fingers — but we digress.
Video of the incident was shared, showing the angry MAGA supporter being led off the flight at Florida’s Sarasota airport and sneering at the flight attendant who reported him.
But the airline employee only took action after receiving a complaint from someone.
The man wasn’t immediately forced to disembark; in fact, the airline employee found a workaround for the guy to keep the shirt on without causing trouble — but he failed to listen, someone complained and the flight attendant had to follow the rules and remove him from the flight.
You get what you get and you don’t get upset. Sorry (not sorry).
