Top AEW star breaks character to share a message for Sting ahead of his retirement

Wrestling legend Sting received a very special message from a villainous star in AEW. That star is usually known to take no prisoners, but he broke character to thank The Icon.

Konosuke Takeshita, who is a member of the notorious Don Callis Family, took to X to send a heartwarming message to the legendary star. In his message, he also mentioned how the WWE Hall of Famer and another NJPW star had a profound impact on him as a kid.

“To be honest, it was very special to be able to fight against Sting. Sting vs Great Muta VHS had a huge impact on me as a kid. Thanks. Then…Who should I target next?” he tweeted.

Given that Konosuke Takeshita had an ominous tone at the end of his message, it will be interesting to see who he will target next in AEW.

Jim Ross speaks on why Sting only wrestles in tag team matches in AEW

Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently revealed why Sting does not wrestle in singles matches anymore. JR, who is recovering from health issues, has slowly started to make his presence felt in AEW and is expected to be more involved on television in 2024.

Ross was speaking on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast when he gave his thoughts on why Sting only works in tag matches, and there is a catch to it.

“I like what they’re doing. Sting needs to be in a tag. Don’t be stupid. He’ll feel more confident. The match will have more action. You know, he’s not a kid. What is he? 60? [Conrad Thompson said he’s older than 60]. He looks great. He’s in great shape. He’s always been a workout warrior since he and Luger owned that gym in Atlanta,” Ross said. [H/T Ringside News]

It looks like the team of Sting and Darby Allin will take on The Young Bucks in his final match at AEW Revolution on March 3.
