Celebrity Chef Tom Kerridge has divulged his secret for maintaining a dramatic 12 stone weight loss, crediting a single ingredient and the dopamine diet for his transformative journey.
Tom, the culinary mastermind behind six esteemed restaurants nationwide, confessed that he’s revamped his dietary routine and curbed his alcohol consumption. However, it’s his reliance on one particular food since slimming down that stands out.
In an exclusive with Men’s Health magazine, he described occasionally opting for a minimalist dinner, consisting solely of roast pork loin. Reflecting on a specific instance, he recounted: “At about 6pm, I had two slices of roast pork loin – all on its own, nothing else with it.”
Moreover, he disclosed that this sparse supper is sometimes paired with late night exercise, stating: “I then did a very late-night Wattbike ride and after that, I had some grapes and some cheese at about 11.30pm.”
Kerridge also emphasized his efforts to stay trim by staying away from his former indulgences and limiting sugar intake, sharing: “I generally try to avoid sugar in any form. Maybe once a month I’ll have a dessert when we’re out at a restaurant, but it’s more likely that I’ll order cheese.”
Sharing his top cheese picks during Grace Dent’s Comfort Eating podcast, Cathedral City and Pilgrims Choice came out as the front runners.
The esteemed chef also reflected on his past weight loss principles, stating: “(To lose the weight), I swam a mile every day, stopped drinking and ate very little in the way of carbohydrates.
“I still try and stay low-carbohydrate. I tried to see if there was a beer diet where I could just drink beer and not eat anything, but it doesn’t exist.”
Despite his healthier habits of late, he confessed that maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging at times, admitting: “There are days when we’re testing 12 pies in a day. You need to eat pastry. The next day I might eat very little and train twice as hard to makeup for the over-eating the day before.”
The TV chef also revealed that he’s been ‘alcohol free’ for the past 11 years, stating: “I sell it in the most amazing, incredible places, but I’m Walter White from Breaking Bad – I don’t partake. Nothing at all. November this year will be 11 years.”
